Postural re-education

Initially your physiotherapist will conduct an assessment of your posture in which tight or weak muscles that may be causing you to maintain a poor posture are identified as well as joint stiffness or hyper mobility which is contributing to your bad posture.

Following your assessment, your physiotherapist will advise you on correct sitting, standing and sleeping positioning as well as moving and handling techniques to improve your posture. Your physiotherapist will provide you with advice which is specific to your needs. As a result of this, your physiotherapist will take into account your occupation; driving, sports and hobbies when providing you with postural advice to ensure you can implement the advice in everyday activities.

After the assessment if physiotherapy is not deemed appropriate for you this will be discussed and an onward referral made, usually to your General Practitioner or another Allied Health Professional.
